The Project: New Central AC for an Orlando Home
The owners of a single-family home in Orlando needed a new air conditioning system. The house already had central heating, so the project focused on the cooling side: the outdoor condenser, a matched indoor evaporator coil and a modern thermostat. Equipment Installed
- Outdoor unit: Bryant 105ANA030000 Legacy series air conditioner, 2.5 tons, up to 16 SEER, R-410A (Puron).
- Evaporator coil: Bryant CNPVP3017ALA all-aluminum coil with TXV, matched to the condenser.
- Thermostat: Ecobee3 lite, allowing the homeowners to control the system from their phones.
The installation was completed by EPA-certified technicians, and installation labor is covered by Fuse's HVAC installation labor warranty.
Why Matching the Coil Matters
Replacing only the outdoor unit and leaving an old coil inside is a common shortcut, but mismatched equipment rarely reaches its rated efficiency and can shorten compressor life. A matched coil with a TXV meters refrigerant accurately across Florida's wide range of load conditions, improving comfort and dehumidification. An all-aluminum coil also resists the formicary corrosion that affects many copper coils in humid climates.
Choosing the Right Size
A 2.5-ton system was selected based on the home's size and load. In Central Florida, oversizing is a frequent mistake: an oversized system cools the air quickly but shuts off before it removes enough humidity, leaving the house cool but clammy. Proper sizing gives longer, steadier cycles and better moisture control.
