The Project: Discreet Multi-Zone Comfort
This Orlando project called for ductless heating and cooling without wall-mounted units. Ceiling cassettes sit flush in the ceiling, leaving walls free and distributing air evenly across the room. Fuse installed a Mitsubishi multi-zone system that lets each room be controlled independently from one outdoor unit.
Equipment Installed
- Outdoor unit: Mitsubishi MXZ-4C36NA2-U1, 36,000 BTU ductless multi-zone heat pump condenser.
- Indoor units: Mitsubishi MLZ-KP12NAG 12,000 BTU one-way ceiling cassette with grille, and MLZ-KP09NAG 9,000 BTU one-way ceiling cassette with grille.
- Controls: Mitsubishi PAC-USWHS002-WF-2 Kumo Cloud Wi-Fi interface, plus installation accessories.
The installation was completed by EPA-certified technicians.
Why Choose Ceiling Cassettes
- Clean look. Only the grille is visible, which suits living areas, offices and retail spaces.
- Even air distribution. Air is directed across the room from above.
- Zoning. Each cassette has its own set point, so unused rooms are not over-cooled.
- Efficiency. Inverter-driven heat pumps adjust capacity to the load and avoid duct losses.
Planning Considerations
Ceiling cassettes need enough space above the ceiling for the unit body, a route for refrigerant lines and a condensate drain (the MLZ series includes a built-in lift pump). Structural support and access for filter cleaning should be planned before installation.
